Scarborough House
Built in 1902 as the fort hospital and later used as a youth hostel, the newly renovated Scarborough House is a perfect rental for larger families. It is named in honor of Captain James Scarborough, the first outside settler north of the Columbia River, who built a frontier cabin in 1843 on what is now Fort Columbia land. Overlooking Fort Columbia’s historic grounds from its hillside location, the one-story house includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room, and an additional sleeping area with three double futons. Cable TV and a CD player are also provided for guests. Towels and bed linens are supplied, with the exception of linens for futons. The cost of the Scarborough House is $350 per night plus tax, with a maximum occupancy of twelve guests. For all vacation houses, a two-night minimum stay is required from April 1 through September 30, with a three-day minimum on all holidays. One-night stays are possible from October 1 through April 1, Monday through Thursday nights. During the off-season, a midweek discount of 50% applies. A forfeiture of the first nights fee will result for all cancellations within sixty days of the reserved date. No smoking is permitted inside the rentals and pets are not allowed on the premises or in renters vehicles. Reservations can be made by calling 1-(888)-CAMPOUT.
